Len Spoden - Washington DC | VA Photographer

I love photographing people and Capturing Their Human Spirit.

Great images start with great expressions.  Great expressions, that show a person's true personality and inner spirit, can only happen when people are at ease and enjoying themselves.

The best part of being a photographer is that I get to meet new people on a daily basis.  After working with customers for over fifteen years at IBM and the last eleven years as a photographer, I am able to interact with my clients, learn a little bit about who they are, and put them at ease. This dialogue allows me to capture an image of their true personality and human spirit.

My approach to my photography is to have fun and keep things moving. My creative eye directs the light and composition to find that distinctive image.  I am always trying to do something new and give each client images that are unique as their personality.  My experience as a photojournalist working with The Washington Post allows me to anticipate and capture key moments. The best photographs are usually the simplest. It’s about getting something honest out of the person / people that I am photographing.

For my commercial clients the most important consideration is the intent of the photo. The process begins by understanding how the image will be used and what it is meant to communicate. Every commercial image I create is designed to sell a product or a service and evoke a certain feeling and emotion.

I currently live in Vienna, VA, just outside of Washington, DC, with my wife and three daughters.  I was born and raised in Erie, PA and I graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Computer Science.
